Sustainability at Artivist: Where Heritage Inspires Change
At Artivist, we are dedicated to a vision of cultural heritage that goes beyond preservation. We believe that museums and cultural institutions can be powerful voices in the movement for sustainability, inviting communities to reimagine what’s possible and take action. We act as a catalyst for sustainable cultural transformation, offering expertise and guidance that inspire and enable long-term positive change.
Our Guiding Principles
Our initiatives aim to empower cultural institutions, engage communities and foster the leadership needed to address today’s environmental and social challenges. Drawing from Peter Senge’s The Necessary Revolution, our work is rooted in three core principles that empower cultural institutions to be catalysts for sustainable transformation:
1. Seeing Systems
We help institutions recognize their place and interconnectedness within larger ecosystems, understanding that every action—big or small—impacts our communities and the environment. This awareness guides us in supporting museums to operate responsibly and act as models for sustainable thinking and acting.
2. Collaborating Across Boundaries
Real change requires building new connections that have the potential to generate impact. We foster partnerships across sectors, connecting businesses and cultural institutions, encouraging museums to collaborate with local organizations, artisans, and educators to bring sustainability to life in ways that resonate with their communities.
3. Creating Desired Futures
At Artivist, we are not just responding to challenges—we’re helping cultural leaders imagine and build the future they want to see. With solutions like My Museum Experience and hands-on workshops, we support museums in creating interactive, inspiring programs that help visitors learn about sustainability and invite them to be part of it.
Our approach directly supports United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) that frame our vision for a sustainable future:
Through our leadership programs and sustainability workshops, we help participants understand the connections between heritage, culture, and sustainability, and equip them with the skills to embed sustainable practices in their institutions.
Through consultancy and workshops, we guide organizations in sustainable resource use, promoting circular design, circular economy and waste reduction within cultural heritage practices. Our My Museum Experience (MME) solution helps cultural institutions offer experiences that educate visitors on responsible resource use and circular practices.
We collaborate with museums and heritage sites to create sustainable practices that integrate local heritage for sustainable urban and community engagement.
Artivist builds bridges between cultural institutions, local communities and businesses. Through collaborative partnerships, we expand the reach of sustainable heritage practices, driving collective action toward shared goals.
